Curated Stories: UWC‑USA Students Present Their IB Portfolios

Student art exhibition poster with diverse IB portfolios, lantern accents, and UWC-USA logo, March 21 at Kluge Auditorium.

Fourteen UWC‑USA students will present their Spring International Baccalaureate Art Exhibition on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. in the art studios on campus. The exhibition features paintings, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography, and installation pieces drawn from each student’s IB visual arts portfolio. Curated themes include ephemeral connections, indigenous loss, emergent biological and mathematical systems, and the impacts of war, among others, reflecting the complex issues students engage with in their studies and artmaking.

The show is free and open to the public, and visitors will be invited to enjoy light refreshments as they explore the student work in the gallery.

In the IB Diploma Programme, the Visual Arts exhibition is the internal assessment task where students submit a selection of pieces that demonstrate both technical accomplishment and the realization of their artistic intentions. Students prepare exhibition texts for each work and a curatorial rationale explaining how the pieces connect, how they are arranged in the space, and what they hope audiences will experience.

All fourteen student artists will be present throughout the opening reception to talk with visitors about their creative process and influences. Community members are warmly invited to arrive a bit early to check in at the Welcome Center, then spend an afternoon in the studios, enjoying light refreshments while they explore student work.
