Sharad Detha teaches IB Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches HL/SL and Applications and Interpretation HL/SL) and Theory of Knowledge at UWC-USA. He is passionate about making mathematics engaging and accessible while encouraging students to think critically, solve unfamiliar problems, and develop confidence in their learning. He also enjoys building meaningful relationships with students and supporting their academic and personal growth.
Sharad holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Education. At UWC-USA, he previously served as the Mathematics Department Chair for over two and a half years, contributing to curriculum development and departmental leadership. Prior to joining UWC-USA, he served as the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator at his previous school, where he supported the implementation and delivery of the IB programme. Across more than two decades in education, he has taught highly motivated students and mentored learners preparing for mathematics competitions and advanced studies. Outside the classroom, he enjoys powerlifting and bodybuilding, believing that physical fitness promotes both mental resilience and overall well-being.
