Q&A with Joel

What do you love about teaching or your role at the school?
I love that residential life is about people, relationships, and community. Some of the most meaningful learning happens outside formal classrooms, when students learn to live together, listen to one another, and grow through shared experiences. It is deeply rewarding to support young people as they develop confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
Parents and students should know that I value relationships first. I strive to create spaces where people feel known, respected, and comfortable being themselves. I am approachable and enjoy getting to know students through everyday conversations, shared experiences, and community life. I also believe that growth often comes from challenge, so I seek to balance care with high expectations, helping young people develop confidence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.
