Graduation. As a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization, UWC-USA is dependent upon the philanthropic support of many who give generously so that we can provide students with the best possible education and experience.

Special Opportunity to Build Endowment

Our remarkable and remarkably generous trustee Shelby Davis has put forward an extremely important match to benefit UWC-USA endowments.

Shelby challenges other donors to help build the support that will strengthen the College far into the future. He will donate $5,000,000 to match gifts made to endowments; fully matched, his $5,000,000 gift will equate to $10,000,000, a tremendous boost for the College.

Endowments yield annual income to be used to support students, programs, and operations. In particular, Shelby wants to help us build the general endowment that supports international scholarships, the Geier International Scholarship Endowment.

Shelby’s Davis Scholar program already provides endowed support for 50 Davis Scholars from the United States each year. Of these, 25 attend UWC-USA and the other 25 attend other United World Colleges.

Our goal is to be able to provide scholarships for all the students at UWC-USA, currently the 75 students admitted each year from around the world. Success in meeting Shelby’s generous challenge will mean a major stride toward realizing that goal.

"Someone believed in me and has invested into my education; this is something I am forever grateful for. My life would have taken a completely different path without my going to the UWC.

So many people from around the world are waiting for such an opportunity, and that is the reason why I decided to contribute to building up the funds to allow for more scholarships. This is a very small amount of money - which is the most I can afford as a college student, but it shows how committed I am to the UWC. It shows how much I believe in our movement."
