After graduating from Wartburg College in Iowa in 2004, I moved to Washington, DC to work at Aljazeera Channel's DC bureau.
Working on the production end of this operation, I have been fortunate to travel throughout Latin America and the United States. The constant need to adapt to various cultural environments has not been a new procedure. At the UWC, we learned to be extremely flexible and accepting to changing and foreign environments. The UWC taught me to "go with the flow" and to acknowledge that there is more than one way to approach matters.
The UWC has had a major influence in the way I lead my life and choose my friends. Washington, DC is like a larger UWC community--people from all over the world with different styles, attitudes, and languages. Instead of fearing all these changing attributes, I am loving them. As if the UWC years never ended, just the people and the place.
