After the UWC, I attended Fairfield University, a small Jesuit college on the coast of Connecticut. I majored in Religious Studies, Economics, and German. After a short stint at Oxford, I joined GE Capital (the financial arm of General Electric) and have stayed with them for the last 8 years. I have worked in Finance, Risk Management, and am now the General Manager for the Auto Finance business in Norway. Along the way, I have travelled extensively (40+ countries) and managed a year living in Australia. My wife is a yoga teacher, and we spend a lot of time on the mat when not in the office. Although an active triathlete for many years (2x Ironman), I have trimmed down my hours running, biking, and swimming in order to spend more time with my wife and dog hiking and skiing the mountains of Norway.
The UWC was for me, like most others, the most influential period of my life. As a corporate executive, I am often challenged with how to apply the UWC ideals in my daily work. Living in Norway, this focus has taken the form of a greater appreciation and awareness of environmental issues. As the general manager for an auto finance business, we are now launching eco-friendly loans and matched fees for carbon offsets. Hopefully, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The UWC experience was a tremendous foundation for the life I now live and I hope that I can give back just a fraction of what I have been given. |
