Residential Life

Student in dorm room.

UWC-USA has six single-sex residences housing students, four on the lower campus and two in the Montezuma Castle. All six residences are named after some of the highest peaks in the world: Aconcagua, Chumolungma, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Kosciusko and Mont Blanc.

Each dorm has a separate common room facility with a lounge and a kitchenette. Dorms also have computer rooms with connections to the internet and a LaserJet printer. Most rooms are doubles and generally second year students share rooms with first year students from another part of the world.

The goal of the college is to create a community which respects the expression of every culture, while ensuring that no student's beliefs, faith or culture are denigrated. The residential staff works with students to build a safe and tolerant community through group discussions, activities and workshops.

Resident tutors are faculty members who live in each residence, who along with assistant resident tutors, manage the residences and act as residential advisors for students. The resident tutors are charged with ensuring that the quality of residential life reflects and promotes the goals of the college.

There are several major rules that forbid the following on campus:

  • Dishonesty
